As organisations look to align their procurement practices with their sustainability targets, many use external certification bodies to review how their suppliers perform against set criteria.
One of our longest standing clients, Colt Technology Services asked that we complete an EcoVadis assessment as a way for them to review their supplier’s sustainability performance.
It’s been a really useful exercise as we received feedback that outlines our strengths and shows areas for improvement. The tool also provides the ability for us to benchmark our sustainability performance amongst our industry peers.
We were delighted to have scored 78/100 which ranked us in the top 1% of all companies globally.
What is EcoVadis?
Founded in 2007 in Paris, EcoVadis has become the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, creating a global network of more than 90,000+ rated companies
What does EcoVadis measure?
The EcoVadis assessment is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of Sustainability/CSR into their business and management system. The Sustainability Scorecard illustrates performance across 21 indicators in four themes:
Labour and HR
How is the assessment run?
We completed the assessment and submitted documentation online. For each response we had to prove that we have taken actions, achieved results and/ or show that we are embedding sustainable behaviours and decisions into the day- to- day operations of our business. We had to clearly show that we are doing what we say we’re doing! The team of EcoVadis experts reviewed our submission and scored it. Our assessment was a collaboration from teams across our business including Operations, HR, Procurement and Sustainability.
How does Cistor and its customers benefit from the certification?
We’re proud to have achieved such a high rating on our first assessment. Our results have shown where we are strong and where we need to improve.
We have several actions already laid out which we’ll be addressing through our internal sustainability programme called Think First. This programme involves everyone in our business on our journey to make our business more sustainable for the long term. It covers carbon reduction, reducing operational impacts, community engagement and business transparency.
These results are hugely beneficial for our clients who take reassurance from the fact that we’ve scored so well. It also allows them to benchmark us against other suppliers they may use.
As a business that is committed to making IT more sustainable, it’s vital that we demonstrate our sustainability behaviours. EcoVadis has provided external verification for the work we do to ensure the way we do business is better for people and the planet.
